Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is aimed at individuals who are either pursuing a career in horticulture or who wish to enter the industry. It enables learners to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding by following one of 6 pathways: production and commercial horticulture, horticulture, landscaping, sports turf (greenkeeper and groundsman), parks, gardens and green space and cemeteries. It forms the knowledge and competency elements of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Horticulture and can also be delivered on a stand-alone basis.
How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 280 hours of learning, depending on their unit choices.
These include monitoring and maintaining health and safety, establishing crops or plants in growing medium, establishing plants or seeds in soil, sse and maintainance of pedestrian controlled powered equipment, prepare and operate a tractor and attachments, transport harvested crop, process payments for purchases and installing drainage systems.
This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence.
